Fring App Can Now Make Calls Over 3G

Yesterday Apple update their iPhone SDK terms to allow developers to allow their apps to make VOIP calls over 3G data. Apple was able to allow this by making an agreement with AT&T who previously wouldn’t allow VOIP calls on their 3G network. This could also of course loose AT&T business since some people might not be making as many calls on AT&T.

After writing a blog on using this client with Cisco CUCM, I was asked if they work with 3G. My answer was "not anytime soon". Apparently, "not anytime soon" is more like "today".
